The County Government of Siaya has reached a key milestone in its infrastructure development agenda following the substantial takeover of the Siaya Stadium project, marking the completion of major works and the transition into the final phase ahead of full operationalization.

An inspection of the facility confirmed that critical structural components of the stadium have been completed. These include the main pavilion, spectator terraces, and essential support amenities. The contractor has also finalized key works such as the drainage system and finishing of spectator areas to ensure the facility meets the required standards.
Once fully operational, the stadium is expected to significantly boost sports development in the county by providing a modern, safe, and inclusive facility for students, residents, athletes, and sports fans. The project is also anticipated to nurture local talent and provide a venue for community events and sporting competitions.
During the takeover process, county officials emphasized the importance of quality assurance, noting that any minor outstanding works will be completed within the defects liability period to ensure the facility meets all contractual and safety standards.
Meanwhile, construction of the Siaya Municipal Office Complex is progressing steadily. The new facility is expected to improve service delivery by providing a centralized and modern workspace for municipal staff while making it easier for residents to access municipal services. Structural works on the building are currently ongoing.
The municipal office project forms part of the County Government’s broader efforts to strengthen urban governance and improve administrative efficiency. Upon completion, the facility will support better coordination of municipal functions and create a more conducive working environment for staff and the public.
The inspection and takeover exercise was led by the Chief Officer for Roads and Public Works, Eng. Kevin Ajuul, accompanied by the Acting Director of Roads, Mr. Samuel Ogeda, and Engineer Moses Ongudi. The team reviewed the progress of works, confirmed compliance with the project specifications, and assessed outstanding items ahead of final completion.
These developments highlight the County Government of Siaya’s continued investment in transformative infrastructure aimed at driving long-term socio-economic growth, empowering communities, and strengthening service delivery across the county.
